Phone numbers and call forwarding

AeroDesk supports two practical phone paths for businesses in the United States and Canada: use a new AeroDesk-managed number or keep the existing public number and forward calls.

New AeroDesk number

After payment, the owner can choose a live available local number during onboarding. The choice is saved as pending and is not purchased or reserved yet. The owner may edit it until Admin activation starts.

When Admin activates the client, AeroDesk rechecks payment, setup, authorization and availability, then purchases and configures the exact number in the client's isolated phone account. A similar number is used only when the owner gave that permission.

After provisioning, AeroDesk connects the number to the correct business receptionist and tests inbound calling before it is marked ready.

Keep the existing business number

The business confirms it controls its normal public number and keeps advertising that number. After Admin activation, AeroDesk prepares a private destination and the phone carrier forwards selected calls to it.

The website chatbot and customer-facing screens continue showing the existing public business number. They never show the hidden forwarding destination or an owner's private number.

Calling and automatic texts

The chatbot's Call action appears only when inbound calling is ready and the business has chosen to show it. The header uses Call, Book, Social, and Close, with an optional Callback request action; it has no Text button.

Automatic texts have separate readiness checks and any required carrier approval. If SMS is pending, eligible calls can still work. Without a ready calling number, the chatbot keeps helping customers and hides Call.

Safe testing

Test AeroDesk warns before any real owner call, email or text and never contacts a customer. Test records are marked Test and kept out of normal leads, alerts, analytics and billing usage where supported.

Forwarding instructions vary by carrier. Use the provider guide, then run the controlled forwarding test from a different phone. Forwarding is marked connected only when the signed inbound call reaches the correct business destination.
